having a flat top sloping to either side with a hinged lid above a storage well, of pegged construction and raised on square tapering legs ending in large carved feet, the interiors retaining inkstains, graffiti, and names and dates of students. In excellent antique condition, structurally very sound, the top with scratches and a few initials, the interior with inkstains, writings, bus and train schedules, etc. France, late 2nd quarter 19th century
